Pfumbidzai snubs PSL advances, stays at free-spending Zim team

Former Chippa United and SuperSport United left-back has snubbed advances from two PSL clubs, extending his stay in Zimbabwe. Pfumbidzai was on the radar of Chippa United who had hoped to ensure his return to South Africa.

The 29-year-old was also on Magesi FC‘s radar with the January transfer window approaching. Pfumbidzai told FARPost last month that he had his sights set on returning to the Betway Premiership.

He has, however, made a surprise u-turn, extending his stay at the free-spending Scottland FC.

PFUMBIDZAI EXTENDS HIS STAY AT SCOTTLAND FC

Scottland FC gained promotion to Zimbabwe’s PSL and Pfumbidzai was a vital cog in the six months he played during the 2024 season. He scored six goals.

As such, the club was keen on retaining his services for the bigger stage. The talented footballer penned a one-year contract extension to keep him at the Zimbabwean outfit until December 2025.

Details of the contract have not been revealed but his stay at the club has been confirmed. He is one of the flourishing former PSL stars in the Zimbabwean football ranks.

In his last season in the Betway Premiership, Pfumbidzai had limited game time at SuperSport United due to a nagging knee injury.

As a result, he was released by the Tshwane side. At that time, he received several offers but he said their terms were similar to what he was offered back in Zimbabwe.

At some point, Kaizer Chiefs also inquired, but nothing materialised and he ended up at Scottland FC.

Meanwhile, Scottland FC are also frontrunners in landing the services of Zimbabwe’s 2024 Golden Boot winner, Lynoth Chikuhwa.

Chikuhwa scored 17 goals throughout the season, a feat that has left him in high demand. The gangly striker is also targeted by Carling Knockout Cup winners, Magesi FC, who want to bolster their forward-line.
