Sirino, Du Preez, Maswanganyi, Zwane updates ahead of CBL Cup

There have been updates on the Kaizer Chiefs trio of Gaston Sirino, Ashley Du Preez, and Samkelo Zwane, as well as the Orlando Pirates duo of Sipho Chaine and Patrick Maswanganyi, ahead of Saturday’s Carling Black Label [CBL] Cup.

The final Carling All-Star XI will lock horns with Carling Knockout Cup winners Magesi in the Carling Black Label Cup on Saturday. The match will be played at the Orlando Stadium, and kick-off is at 15h30.

Premiership newcomers Magesi beat Mamelodi Sundowns 2-1 to win the second edition of the knockout competition. They now face a select XI, which has been confirmed after fans cast over 4.5 million votes.

Last year, the PSL All-Stars defeated Stellenbosch FC 2-1. Once again, Pirates coach Jose Riveiro will coach the select side. He was also in charge last year when they beat Stellies.

“I’m grateful, like I said before, to be here and do my job as best as I can working for Orlando Pirates,” he told journalists. “I try to gain the respect of everyone around me, trying to be who I am. I’m so happy to be selected one more time. I think when the people are voting for you, the mandate is clear to try to do your best during the time we will be involved in this short-term project.”

WHAT ARE THE CBL CUP UPDATES ON SIRINO, DU PREEZ, CHAINE, MASWANGANYI & ZWANE

In-form Bafana Bafana goalkeeper Sipho Chaine will captain the PSL All-Stars in the upcoming Carling Black Label Cup. The starting lineup has undergone significant changes compared to the latest version.

Kaizer Chiefs talisman Gaston Sirino, who missed his team’s recent league match against TS Galaxy, has been ruled out due to injury. Ashley Du Preez has also been dropped to the bench. In their place, Samkelo Zwane and Vincent Mokoena have been included in the starting lineup.

Several last-minute changes have been made to the bench. However, Mfundo Vilakazi, Patrick Maswanganyi, Thembinkosi Lorch, and Tshegofatso Mabasa remain, as potential attacking options.

Maswanganyi has been inconspicuously absent for the Buccaneers in the last two games. He missed the game against Al Ahly at home and the away fixture against Stade d’Abidjan. Lorch, on the other hand, has not featured for Sundowns in recent games.
