Domingo opens up on his primary goal amid career recovery

Cape Town City midfielder Haashim Domingo has revealed one of his primary goals as he slowly revives himself since returning to South Africa.

Domingo returned home after failing to spark in Morocco where he was in the books of giants Raja Casablanca.

That was after a three year stint in the books of serial Betway Premiership winners Mamelodi Sundowns. And after struggling in Morocco, Domingo appears to be thriving under the guidance of Eric Tinkler at Cape Town City.

So far, he has been thrown into the fray 14 times. Nine of the appearances have been in the Betway Premiership while the others were in the MTN8 Cup and the Carling Knockout Cup.

CAPE TOWN CITY’S HAASHIM DOMINGO SPEAKS ON HIS PRIMARY TARGETS

In return, the 29-year-old has gone on to provide three assists as his revival path continues. In an interview with FARPost, Domingo revealed one of his primary target, one he believes will fully shape his revival.

Domingo, who previously played for Vitória Guimarães SC B in Portugal, still retains hope that he may breakthrough into the Bafana Bafana set-up.

The Cape Town-born midfielder is one of the players that represented South Africa at under 20 level, with eight caps and one goal under his belt.

Over the years, he has failed to graduate into the senior team, with coaches overlooking him. However, he remains hopeful that he will get his chance.

“Obviously we all want to play for Bafana especially that we played in the under 20s, the hope has been to reach the senior team. And it’s not too late to stop hoping but as a player, I have to earn the recognition.

“I am happy that young players are getting a chance to feature for the national team which shows that the system we came through is strong.

“It has always been my wish to play for the national team. And I am hopeful that my chance will come. If it doesn’t, I believe someone more deserving will get it and get the job done,” Domingo told FARPost.
