Top Zim Clubs targeting SA tour

Two Zimbabwe’s PSL clubs are planning to tour South Africa in January and face Betway Premiership giants as part of their 2025 pre-season.

The 2024 title winners Simba Bhora and newly promoted Scottland FC are leaving no stone unturned to start off 2025 on a high note.

Importantly, Simba Bhora will be competing in the next edition of the CAF Champions League.

Hence, a pre-season in South Africa will set the tone for their 2025 calendar which is expected to be conjested.

Their squad has been weakened by the departures of key players, including Walter Musona and former Free State Stars goalkeeper Talbert Shumba, to Scottland FC.

SIMBA BHORA AND SCOTTLAND FC HOPE TO FACE BETWAY PREMIERSHIP GIANTS IN JANUARY

Indications are that Simba Bhora are targeting Polokwane as their first stop. They want to play friendlies with teams based in the Limpopo province before shifting base to Johannesburg.

Simba Bhora have set 6 January as their date of departure to South Africa. On the otherhand, Scottland FC who will be making their debut in 2025 are also dreaming big.

The Harare based-side got a major boost after receiving two sponsorship packages worth R45.7 million. The sponsorship was received from Sakunda Holdings and IMC Communications respectively.

As they are busy on the market, they are aiming to face Soweto giants Orlando Pirates in January. The club has already purchased light motor vehicles for their incoming players ahead of next season.

Scottland FC are ambitious so much that they have been splashing cash to sign all best players in Zimbabwe.

Their target is to smash and grab the league title in their maiden season. And they believe facing Soweto giants will be a good measure of their pedigree.

Former Kaizer Chiefs talisman Khama Billiat is linked to the club. The Betway Premiership is Billiat’s first preference but Scottland FC stands as his next possible destination in Zimbabwe’s PSL next season.

It remains to be seen if the two clubs will be successful in missions. But FARPost has it on good authority that they are making frantic efforts to get the golden oppurtunity.
