When to expect Zungu & Mthethwa’s AmaZulu first appearances

AmaZulu FC co-coach Vusumuzi Vilakazi has revealed when new signings Bongani Zungu and Sandile Mthethwa can be expected to be seen on the field.

The duo signed for Usuthu at the beginning of this week with the KZN side strengthening the squad for Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane.

According to Vilakazi, the former Orlando Pirates defender Mthethwa will only get to play for AmaZulu from January.

Meanwhile, regarding Zungu, Vilakazi stated that his return to the field is uncertain as he still has a lot to do to work on his fitness levels.

VILAKAZI GIVES INDICATION ON WHEN TO EXPECT BONGANI ZUNGU & SANDILE MTHETHWA ON THE FIELD

“Mthethwa will play in January. Yeah, maybe with Zungu, I’ll be honest. With Zungu, this is the first training session on the field,” said Vilakazi.

“We were at the gym yesterday [Thursday]. So, we still need to see his condition and then we’ll act accordingly.

“If he’s ready for the game, why not? But if he’s not, it’s not a train smash because as I’ve said that the competition is very high and there are players who are there and they were doing very well.

“So, we’ll just monitor his condition.”

Vilakazi emphasised that Zungu and Mthethwa’s experience will significantly enhance the squad’s depth. He expressed confidence that the younger players will benefit greatly from them.

‘THEY ARE A GOOD ADDITION TO THE SET-UP’

“Yeah, no, I think they are definitely going to be a good addition in our set-up,” added Vilakazi.

“They will have a huge impact. But obviously, they are also aware that they’ve joined a moving train.

“It’s not that we are starting from scratch. So, the competition will be in the highest level for them to break through. But we believe in them, that’s why they are here, and we also believe that their experience will help us a lot.

“But we have a lot of young stars as well that we need to make sure that they gain experience through them.

“So, they’ve got a bigger part to play in terms of being in the set-up, not only to play, but also to make sure that the integrated young stars are in the level where we want them to be.”
