Mkhulise speaks on possibility of facing Bongani Zungu
Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Sphelele Mkhulise has spoken on the possibility of facing his former teammate Bongani Zungu, who recently joined AmaZulu FC.
Zungu linked up with the KZN-based side as a free agent. He parted ways with Sundowns after the completion of last season. ‘Ben 10’ made 123 appearances in all competitions for the club. In the process, he found the back of the net three times and grabbed 10 assists.
The former Bafana Bafana international joined ‘Usuthu’ alongside former Orlando Pirates defender Sandile Mthethwa.
The 32-year-old may make his AmaZulu debut on Tuesday, 24 December, against Masandawana. Kick-off at the iconic Moses Mabhida Stadium is at 3:00 PM.
SPHELELE MKHULISE WARNS SUNDOWNS TO BE WARY OF BONGANI ZUNGU IF HE GETS A CHANCE TO PLAY
Mkhulise is aware of Zungu’s talents and how he can destroy them. He believes Zungu is an important addition to AmaZulu, who are trying to change their fortunes following inconsistent performances.
“Bongani [Zungu] is a very good player, and we all know that,” Mkhulise told the club’s media department. “He will add value to AmaZulu FC. I think we should be aware of this and ready for anything. We don’t know if he will play or not. He’s a good player; we know what he’s capable of doing on the day.”
Mkhulise further highlighted that AmaZulu pose a huge threat to them as they have been inconsistent and they need results. However, Sundowns, under the new coach, Miguel Cardoso, won their last two matches with a score of 1-0.
“We are expecting a difficult game, they want points, and they are playing at home. They have good players and they have been playing well, unfortunately sometimes they are not getting the results.”
