Clinton Larsen addresses reports linking him to PSL club
Former Magesi FC coach Clinton Larsen has addressed the recent speculation linking him with a return to coaching in the KZN region following his resignation from the Limpopo club.
Larsen dropped a bombshell by announcing his exit after Magesi’s 3-0 loss in the Carling Cup against an All-Star side on Saturday at Orlando Stadium in Soweto.
The 53-year-old cited a lack of positive results in the Betway Premiership campaign as the main reason why he opted to step down.
But there have been talks of him returning to coach in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal. Prior to the start of the season, Larsen was linked with a return to Golden Arrows.
AmaZulu FC were also reportedly interested in Larsen after the departure of coach Pablo Franco Martin. In recent times, Larsen has also been linked with a move to Richards Bay FC. ‘The Natal Rich Boyz’ currently don’t have a permanent coach following the departure of Brandon Truter.
WHAT IS CLINTON LARSEN’S NEXT MOVE AFTER HIS EXIT AT MAGESI FC
“At this point, no. None of the teams have had contact [with me]. So whatever stories are out there at this point are just rumours,” Larsen told FARPost.
“Taking a break is when there are no offers at the moment. But if offers come, I would consider them. I, together with my family, will make the best decision for me. And we will take it from there,” he explained.
“As I said, it all depends on the offer, the club, what is the club’s vision and also, again, as a coach, do I have the necessary players to be competitive in whatever division I am asked to help.”
Meanwhile, coach Jacky Ledwaba and Papi Zothwane are set to take charge when Magesi host Orlando Pirates in Polokwane on Sunday in a league tie.
