Chiefs legend Mbesuma details what Ranga Chivaviro needs to fix

Kaizer Chiefs legend Collins Mbesuma, renowned for his goal-scoring prowess, has provided constructive criticism for Ranga Chivaviro, highlighting areas where the striker needs to improve.

Chivaviro joined Chiefs on a two-year deal ahead of the 2023/24 PSL season, arriving with high expectations following his impressive goal-scoring exploits with Marumo Gallants.

However, his first season with Amakhosi was plagued by injury setbacks and a lack of consistent form. The 32-year-old only managed to find the back of the net four times and provide one assist in 23 appearances across all competitions.

In the current Betway Premiership campaign, Chivaviro has already equalled his previous season’s goal tally, scoring four goals in 10 appearances across all competitions. While this might suggest an improvement, his performances have been inconsistent, leading to boos from frustrated Chiefs supporters during some matches.

Chivaviro’s current contract with Chiefs is set to expire in January 2025, leaving his future with the club uncertain.

The Soweto giants have yet to make a decision on whether to extend his contract, a decision that will undoubtedly be influenced by his performances in the coming months.

COLLINS MBESUMA SAYS RANGA CHIVAVIRO MUST CHANGE HIS ATTITUDE

The former Chiefs striker Mbesuma has urged Chivaviro to change his attitude towards Kaizer Chiefs’ faithful on and off the field.

“I think he should fix his attitude towards the supporters when he performs very well by scoring,” Mbesuma told FARPost. “As a striker, your main job is to score goals. If you keep on missing those chances, the supporters become frustrated, and they will boo you.

“There is a match [against SuperSport United], he was booed. Later on, he scored, and his celebration was directed to the supporters [saying they talk too much]. As a professional, you shouldn’t do that.

“Players should have a strong relationship with supporters. Those are the people who can make your career or completely destroy it. They can help you build a good reputation as well.”
