Pitso Mosimane voices concerns over Esteghlal’s situation
Renowned SA coach Pitso Mosimane has publicly expressed his frustrations with the current situation at Iranian club Esteghlal, emphasising his commitment to finding solutions.
Mosimane joined Esteghlal in October 2024 following months without a club after parting ways with Abha Club in the Saudi Pro League.
So far, the former Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly coach has been in-charge of 11 matches in all competitions at Esteghlal.
The ex-Bafana Bafana mentor has managed to register three victories, five draws and suffered three defeats.
The Famous Royal Blues initially struggled defensively in the early part of the season, conceding 14 goals in their opening matches. However, they have demonstrated significant improvement in recent games under Mosimane, limiting their opponents to just two goals in their last four matches.
While their defensive solidity has improved, the team has encountered difficulties in front of goal, scoring only two goals in their last four matches.
This offensive drought and situation has become a concern for Mosimane as his troops strive to climb the league table.
PITSO MOSIMANE GETTING FRUSTRATED BY LACK OF GOALS AT ESTEGHLAL
The 60-year-old has admitted that he is getting frustrated by lack of goals at the club. This is mainly because of injuries to his attackers and he’s trying by all means to find a solution.
“We have a lot of challenges, obviously the challenge is on scoring goals. I’m trying to do something about it,” said Mosimane.
“I played Alman [Ramezani], we can’t find goals, I played Blanco [Gustavo Leschuk]. We have scored two in four games. I tried Kooshki [Alireza] a winger, you can see I’m trying, it’s not easy to find the best person to score.
“Juma [Masoud] is sick, he hasn’t been training for two days. It’s getting more difficult with the challenges. Roozbeh [Cheshmi] is injured, Hossein [Hosseini] is injured, Zobeir [Niknafs] is injured, so it’s part of life but there is no use to complain. We can’t complain, this is what I have and we are trying to do something about it.
“I’m getting frustrated, the supporters want a win, I want a win also. [Mohammad Hossein] Eslami scored a brilliant goal against Al Ahly Saudi, he’s also injured.”
