New chapter for Mabhuti Khenyeza after Arrows exit
Following his exit from Golden Arrows, Mabhuti Khenyeza has taken up a new role, joining Chippa United as assistant coach to Thabo September. September replaces Kwanele Kopo as head coach of the Chilli Boys.
The Eastern Cape club announced that Kopo would not renew his contract with the club. After joining the club in January 2024 on a one-year deal, Kopo’s contract expires at midnight.
While the former SuperSport United coach was offered an extension, he declined. According to a club statement, the former Pretoria Callies mentor cited a desire to return to Johannesburg to focus on family matters.
CHIPPA UNITED CONFIRM MABHUTI KHENYEZA
In a significant move, Chippa United confirmed that Khenyeza will work with September as an assistant coach.
Khenyeza, a renowned figure in South African football, brings a wealth of experience to the role. He recently cut ties with Arrows over contractual issues.
FARPost reported that the ex-PSL striker had stopped attending the team’s training sessions due to a contract dispute between him and the club. Arrows then announced that he had been “absent from work for a week”.
“Lamontville Golden Arrows would like to state that Mr Mabhudi Khenyeza has been absent from work for a week,” Arrows said.
Musa Bilankulu and Kagisho Dikgacoi were assigned to lead the team in the absence of Mabhuti Khenyeza.
He has since resurfaced in Gqeberha, where he is set to work with September.
“As we bid farewell, we are pleased to announce that Coach Thabo September will take over as head coach, continuing his impactful journey with the team. He will be supported by newly appointed assistant coach Mabhuti Khanyeza, who brings a wealth of knowledge and experience from his illustrious career as both a player and a coach,” read Chippa’s statement.
