What the future holds for Eva Nga at Chippa United

As his contract with Chippa United nears ending, striker Bienvenu Eva Nga faces a decisive six months as the club’s stance has been revealed.

Eva Nga’s current contract with Chippa United is set to lapse in June 2025, having been one of their reliable strikers.

The 31-year-old has been in the club’s ranks since January 2024 when he returned after a botched stint at Orlando Pirates.

As it stands, the Cameroonian has struggled to score regularly with two goals in 11 Betway Premiership games.

WILL STRIKER BIENVENU EVA NGA GET A CONTRACT EXTENSION?

Asked about Eva Nga, Kwanele Kopo, who has departed Chippa United as his contract expires on Tuesday, 31 December said:

“Eva has done well for us and I think the idea for us is to try and keep him. He is having a dry season at the moment, he is frustrated, he is trying things too hard.”

“We are trying to get him to relax. A player like Eva, as much as he is not scoring he has helped Kwayiba [Sinoxolo] because Eva gives us attention.

“He also gives us a reference point. Eva is physically strong and he gives us a aerial presence so he has done well for the team barring scoring.

“But we haven’t really sat down to discuss who is going. There are a lot of contracts ending in June.

“It’s not only his but we are just trying find stability. We have a lot of youngsters we would like to introduce especially next year.

“But from what he has done so far, I don’t think there’s some alarm bells for him. That is unless someone comes and take him or buys him.”

KOPO ON THE CHALLENGES FACED BEFORE THE KAIZER CHIEFS MATCH

Meanwhile Kopo revealed the main challenge they faced in the build-up to their match against Kaizer Chiefs on Sunday.

The Chilli boys suffered a 1-0 defeat in a match that was played in Durban at the Moses Mabhida stadium.

Kopo said they did not have adequate training due to the unavailability of the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.

“The challenges we had coming into this game was more from a preparation perspective.

“We had challenges from PE, the Nelson Mandela stadium was closed so we really didn’t have our proper training field.

“So for three days, we didn’t have a proper training. From a tactical perspective, Chiefs did everything we expected,” Kopo added.
