CT City’s new Technical Director Muhsin Ertuğral to serve as head coach
Cape Town City have appointed Muhsin Ertugral as their new Technical Director. He will also serve as the club’s interim head coach until the end of the season.
Ertugral replaces Eric Tinkler who was sacked by the Mother City-based outfit this week following a series of poor results.
Tinkler’s exit from the Citizens marked an end to a four-year stint having joined the club back in 2021 when he replaced Jan Olde Riekerink.
Now, Ertugral has been entrusted with the responsibility of restoring the fortunes of the Betway Premiership side after a period of decline in recent seasons.
He will be assisted by Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.
MUHSIN ERTUGRAL REPLACES ERIC TINKLER AT CITY
”Cape Town City is delighted to announce the appointment of Muhsin Ertugral as Technical Director of the club,” reads club’s statement.
”Muhsin brings a wealth of local and international football experience to the club’s future project, having most recently served as the Technical Advisor of the Turkish national team for the past 4 years.
“Muhsin will step in as head coach until the end of the current season, joining first team coaches Diogo Peral and Lebogang Manyama.”
This comes just days before The Citizens face Soweto giants Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates in Cape Town in the Betway Premiership. Interestingly, the Turkish tactician has managed both Amakhosi and the Buccaneers before.
The Western Cape side will host Nasreddine Nabi’s troops on Sunday, 5 January at the DHL Stadium in Cape Town. The John Comitis-owned outfit will then welcome the Sea Robbers on Wednesday, 8 January.
City will aiming for maximum points as they look to move into the top half of the table. They are currently sitting in the 12th place in the league standings having accumulated 11 points after ten opening matches.
