TS Galaxy coach gives Sifiso Hlanti update

TS Galaxy coach Adnan Beganovic has given an update on former Kaizer Chiefs left-back Sifiso Hlanti. Hlanti parted ways with Kaizer Chiefs at the end of the 2023/24 season and has been a free agent since then.

The 34-year-old defender’s three-year stint with Amakhosi came to an end just before the arrival of head coach Nasreddine Nabi. Signed from Moroka Swallows in 2021, Hlanti made 21 appearances and scored one goal in the 2023/24 season.

The veteran defender has been training with The Rockets with the hope of landing a deal. Prior to the TS Galaxy trial, the former Bidvest Wits defender was linked to a move to Richards Bay.

WHAT IS THE UPDATE ON SIFISO HLANTI AT TS GALAXY

Beganovic, appointed Galaxy head coach after replacing Sead Ramovic in November, has outlined the criteria Hlanti must meet to earn a contract with the club.

“When he came, I knew him because of many games I analysed when we played against Chiefs. I know him, he’s left back, not so fast, what we expected but also he needs to fix some tactical parts and also fitness is very important to fix now because he came he’s not ready to play because he had a huge gap between two clubs and I think seven months is not easy to replace,” Beganovic told SABC Sport.

Despite these concerns, Beganovic acknowledged Hlanti’s quality and the potential he could bring to the team. “I think he needs just to get fit, and if we decide to keep him, he can help because he has quality.”

With the January transfer window open, Hlanti will be hoping to do enough to earn himself a contract. His former Chiefs teammate, Keagan Dolly, signed for the Mpumalanga outfit earlier this season.
