Milford FC bolster squad with talented winger
Motsepe Foundation Championship side Milford FC have bolstered their squad with talented winger Sandile Mathumbu.
‘Gqu’, as he is affectionately known, joins the KwaZulu-Natal outfit from Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League team Sinenkani FC after a successful trial assessment.
The 24-year-old has been part of the team that made history by participating in the last 32 and subsequently last 16 of the Nedbank Cup two years ago.
The player leaves Sinenkani in position two in the Inland Stream with 14 points after six matches. The ‘Stubborn Nation’ are four points behind stream leaders FC Ravens.
This publication understands that Mathumbu has signed a one-year deal with Milford, who are fighting for automatic promotion to the Betway Premiership.
As things stand, Milford are sitting in fourth place in the Motsepe Foundation Championship standings with 24 points from 14 outings, trailing their main rivals Durban City by four points, who lead the table.
Milford will start their new year with an away fixture against AmaTuks on Sunday, 12 January 2025. The game will take place at Tuks Stadium, with the kick-off set for 15:30.
