Goals dry up as three Betway Premiership matches end goalless

There was a dearth of goals in the Betway Premiership on Saturday with the three scheduled matches ending in goalless draws.

Included was a 0-0 draw between Marumo Gallants and Richards Bay FC played in Bloemfontein. Gallants had a dominant outing but failed to hit the target, as Richards Bay held on.

The draw did not have much impact on the log standings as Gallants remain on 13th position, while Richards Bay 14th and they have 11 and nine points respectively.

In another match, TS Galaxy kept their unbeaten run under coach Adnan Beganovic.

They played out to a goalless draw with Magesi FC in a match that was played at the Mbombela Stadium.

The Rockets have now picked 12 points since Beganovic took over from Sead Ramovic.

Galaxy were looking to keep the momentum after their 3-1 win over Royal AM last time out.

However Owen Da Gama, who recently took over from Clinton Larsen on December 30, did enough to ensure his men avoid defeat and arrest their losing streak.

The hosts, TS Galaxy dominated in terms of possession in the first half and were prodding for a breakthrough.

They gave goalkeeper Elvis Chipezeze a tough time, as five of their 10 attempts at goal came from outside the box.

However, a goal remained elusive as they failed to hit the target. Nevertheless, the point gained is valuable for Magesi FC who are stuck at the bottom of the Betway Premiership log standings.

Meanwhile, TS Galaxy have now gone for seven games unbeaten and now sit on ninth spot, with 14 points from 12 points.

In a match that was played concurrently, Golden Arrows were left to rue a tale of missed chances following a 0-0 draw with AmaZulu FC at the Moses Mabhida Stadium.

A win would have left Abafana Bes’thende on fourth position. In this one, Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi’s men were denied by the crossbar twice.

Ultimately, they only managed to claim a point to remain on 11th position. Both teams had a goal disallowed in the match.
