AmaZulu duo join Marumo Gallants on loan

AmaZulu FC have announced that striker Junior Dion and defender Yanga Mjoli have joined Marumo Gallants for the remainder of the 2024/25 season.

Dion and  Mjoli will be eager to make a significant contribution to relegation-threatened Gallants in the second half of the season. ‘Siwelele Sa Marumo’ currently occupies 13th place on the Betway Premiership log, just two points above the relegation zone after 12 matches.

Dion, who left Gallants to join AmaZulu in January 2023, will be looking to reignite his goal-scoring form and help his former club climb the Betway Premiership table. In AmaZulu colours so far, Dion has found the back of the net 14 times in 47 appearances.

However, his recent form has been less impressive. In the current campaign, the Ivorian striker has failed to find the back of the net in his seven appearances in the league. This goal-scoring drought mirrors AmaZulu’s overall struggles in front of goal. ‘Usuthu’ have scored only three goals in their last five games.

Meanwhile, Mjoli joins Gallants after gaining valuable experience during the first half of the season while on loan at Pretoria Callies in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

AMAZULU FC DESCRIBE DION AND MJOLI LOAN DEALS AS ‘STRATEGIC’

AmaZulu FC outlined the rationale behind loaning Dion and Mjoli to Gallants. The club emphasised that these moves are considered “strategic” as they aim to provide both players with increased game time.

“AmaZulu Football Club is pleased to announce the loan transfers of striker Sede Junior Dion [31] and defender Yanga Mjoli [21] to Betway Premiership side Marumo Gallants,” reads the club statement.

“The duo will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season with Siwelele Sa Marumo on six-month loan deals.

“Yanga Mjoli, a versatile defender, showcased his skills in the first half of the season while on loan at Pretoria Callies, gaining valuable experience in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Meanwhile, Sede Junior Dion has been a consistent presence for Usuthu, making seven starts this season.

“This strategic move aims to provide both players with increased game time and further opportunities for development.

“AmaZulu FC wishes Dion and Mjoli the best as they embark on this new chapter with Marumo Gallants.”
