Phuti Mohafe wants closure on Appollis and Matuludi exit links
Polokwane City FC head coach Phuti Mohafe has described the continuous exit links of his star players Thabang Matuludi and Oswin Appollis as an ‘agenda’.
Matuludi and Appollis have seamlessly carried their strong performances from the previous campaign into this season, solidifying their status as key contributors to the “Rise and Shine” side.
They have previously been linked with moves to teams such as Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates. But nothing materialised.
With the January transfer window period now open, the pair has now been strongly linked with a move to The Buccaneers.
WHY OSWIN APPOLLIS AND THABANG MATULUDI EXIT LINKS ARE DESCRIBED AS AN AGENDA
“You know with this issue of our players being linked with other teams, let it be their own agenda,” said a visibly irritated Mohafe. “But I think we shouldn’t be engaging with it anymore because it’s just rumours that are flying around. I would rather not comment further about this.
“As you checked, the players are here, so that tells you something else. Let the headlines fly. But I don’t have to talk to these players. They know what is at stake for them.”
POLOKWANE CITY COACH PHUTI MOHAFE PLEASED WITH ONE POINT DURING THE LIMPOPO DERBY
Polokwane played to a 1-1 draw against Sekhukhune United in the Limpopo derby on Sunday at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
The result means PLK City remain third on the log behind Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, respectively.
“Two points lost, one point gained. But I think it’s a fair reflection of the match, considering the fact it’s a derby, and it had all the ingredients of a derby,” said Mohafe.
“It’s just that both teams couldn’t play normal football. So for us, it affected us a lot because we couldn’t move the ball quicker. We could not move quickly because of the heaviness of the field. But it’s okay, we take it and we move on.”
