‘We’re looking at different profiles’: Nabi on Chiefs’ transfer window plans

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has disclosed that his club is looking at different profiles to beef up the squad in the 2025 January transfer window.

The highly-rated mentor spoke about Chiefs’ efforts to recruit new players following their disappointing 1-0 defeat against Cape Town City FC in the Betway Premiership on Sunday at the Cape Town Stadium.

CT City found the back of the net through Venezuelan attacker Darwin González to hand Muhsin Ertugral his first maximum points since taking over the coaching role as the replacement of Eric Tinkler.

After losing their first league match for 2025, The Glamour Boys are occupying the seventh position on the log standings with 15 points in 11 games played.

Since Nabi took over the hot seat in July 2024, Chiefs have managed to win four matches in the league, draw three and lose four times.

The former Young Africans SC coach has seemingly attributed the inconsistent run of form at Chiefs to a lack of quality players to match his style of play. Nabi has been vocal about his plans to add quality players to build a competitive squad.

After the transfer window opened on the 1st of January 2025, Nabi says the Kaizer Chiefs management is working hard to sign players even though it’s not easy.

“It’s true that the market is open and every club is trying to improve their squad, our club is also working very hard to try and look at different profiles. It’s not easy because it’s January, but everyone is working very hard.”

In the previous transfer window, Nabi signed players such as Gaston Sirino, Bongani Sam, Rushwin Dortley, Bradley Cross, Fiacre Ntwari, Inacio Miguel, and Njabulo Blom for Amakhosi.

While Sirino, Cross, Dortley, and Miguel formed an integral part of Nabi’s team in his first six months at the helm, the Tunisian tactician stressed the need to beef up the team.

The Soweto giants have been linked with Fawaaz Basadien, Stanley Nwabali, Oswin Appollis, Thabang Matuludi and Feisal Salum.
