Manganyi addresses ‘unpaid salaries’ situation at Royal AM
Royal AM captain Samuel Manganyi has spoken out about the ongoing issue of unpaid salaries at the club amid the management’s recent claims that player payments have been made.
Reports surfaced early this week of a player strike at Thwihli Thwahla following the non-payment of December salaries.
Training was reportedly suspended as the club attempted to address its financial difficulties. Royal AM’s fixture with Chippa United was also postponed by the league’s motherbody PSL.
Speaking to Sportswire, Royal AM General Manager Richard Makhoba asserted that all players have been paid. He further stated that training would resume on Monday as the team prepares for upcoming fixtures.
Addressing the matter during the Nedbank Cup launch on Thursday evening, the club’s skipper Manganyi said what’s happening at the club is beyond’s players control.
WHAT MANGANYI SAID ABOUT ROYAL AM’S ‘UNPAID SALARIES’
“To tell you the truth, what’s happening at the club is not for players,” said Samuel Manganyi.
“Us, what we have to do is to go inside the field of play and do our job, that’s all.”
When asked whether the players had been paid, he said: “At the current moment, I’ll be lying, no comment on that.
“No comment actually, I cannot say I’m sure.”
Manganyi urged Royal AM players to remain steadfast during these challenging times and expressed hope for a brighter future.
‘WE NEED TO BE STRONG AND SOLDIER ON’
“I think in life, when there are challenges, you need to be strong to understand because you don’t know when good is coming, when bad is coming,” he added.
“So, for us players, we need to be strong and soldier on.
“I think in the near future things will be fine.”
Meanwhile, Royal AM were drawn against provincial rivals Milford in the Nedbank Cup Round of 32.
