DDC: Hlongwane bags brace as Chiefs hammer TS Galaxy

Kaizer Chiefs teenage sensation Naledi Hlongwane’s form continued as he bagged a brace when Amakhosi cruised to a 4-1 victory over TS Galaxy in the DDC.

The DStv Diski Challenge returned with a bang after the festive break, kicking off with three matches on the day. Amakhosi claimed maximum points at Dobsonville Stadium in Soweto, comfortably defeating the Rockets.

Hlongwane, who’s been a subject of possible promotion to the first team, scored twice, with Matala Makhubo and Kamogelo Malefo adding to the tally.

Naledi Hlongwane’s impressive performances come at a time when the Chiefs’ senior side desperately needs attacking reinforcements, with Ashley Du Preez and Gaston Sirino sidelined due to injury.

The 19-year-old also scored a brace in the Carling Black Label Cup when Carling All-Stars team beat Magesi 3-0 in December.

Kaizer Chiefs coach Nasreddine Nabi revealed that the youngster, along with two other reserve team players, would be training with the first team.

In the other matches of the day, Lamontville Golden Arrows downed Marumo Gallants 2-1 in a match that was played at CUT stadium in Bloemfontein.

Abafana Bes’thende climbed up to 13th place in the league, accumulating eight points from 13 matches. This marked their return to winning form after a four-game winless streak, which included three losses and one draw.

Meanwhile, the strugglers Marumo Gallants remain winless since the start of the campaign. They have only three points that they accumulated through three draws.
