Former Pirates forward opens up on his UEFA B experience

Ex-Orlando Pirates forward Takesure Chinyama has opened up on his experience during the UEFA B coaching license classes.

Chinyama acquired his UEFA B license late last year after undergoing robust training in Poland.

The 44-year-old was the only African in a class of 34 candidates for the prestigious coaching license.

The UEFA B License allows holders to be head coaches of amateur clubs, youth teams up to age 16, and assistant coaches for professional clubs.

This aptly suits the former Zimbabwe international who has been a youth coach in Poland.

Chinyama has been coaching at KS Bibiczanka as one of the youth academy coaches. He has been in their ranks since January 2024.

WHAT TAKESURE CHINYAMA SAID

And after upgrading and accounting for the highly-rated license, the former Zimbabwe Warriors star has reflected on his journey.

“I was challenged, I learned more about the game, I was inspired by the passion for the game around me,” Chinyama told FARPost.

“And in the end, a very surprising side-effect of the course happened, I felt the fire to pursue playing at the top level again.

“Moreso, this was an eye opener and I can safely say that I now know the game more than before. The smaller aspects have helped more.

“I was motivated by the fact that I was the only African in a class of 34 students. And that alone was enough to give me power to aim higher.

“And what further makes me happy is the fact that I managed to attain this without so many challenges. But the exams were tough.

“At the moment, I could be the only Zimbabwean that has this top license. I believe it will pay off one day and that I can been able to rise in coaching and coach back home.”

Chinyama added: “So right now my focus is on learning how to manage the dug out. This is a critical phase of coaching according to what we learnt in the UEFA B classes.

“As a coach, that is an area I would need to be smart because experience has shown me that most fail to manage the dug out.”
