TS Galaxy edging closer to signing Veluyeke Zulu
TS Galaxy are edging to signing highly rated defender Veluyeke Zulu who’s been training with the club for quite some time now.
The 29-year-old center-back has been training with the team since December, having been without a club for over six months.
Zulu became a free agent when he parted ways with AmaZulu FC at the end of the 2023/24 season.
Before the current season began, the former Chippa United defender was strongly linked to Baroka FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, but the move fell through.
Thereafter, he was also poised to join Marumo Gallants as they rebuilt their squad following their acquisition of status from Moroka Swallows, but this move didn’t materialise.
VELUYEKE ZULU LOOKS SET TO SIGN FOR TS GALAXY
It is now understood that Zulu may soon sign a contract with the Rockets, with club management and coach Adnan Beganovic happy with him.
“It looks like he will definitely sign for the club this month because the coach is really impressed with him,” the source told FARPost.
“The thing is the two parties have been going back and forth with regard to the terms of the contract but they are highly likely to agree on something soon.”
Zulu boasts both second-tier and top-flight experience having turned out for various clubs, including Maritzburg United [now Durban City], Royal Eagles, Golden Arrows, Chippa United, and AmaZulu.
Earlier this year, Beganovic told SABC Sports that they were seeking to sign a central defender during the current transfer window.
“For us, it’s very important to keep [players] and we decided to keep all our players. Then we talked about the FIFA window and then maybe we decide maybe now we have a trial for central defenders. Zulu from Durban and then Hlanti is there, the Kaizer Chiefs left back,” he said.
“Maybe we try to find one central defender if we can but in the end, we want to keep all our players and I’m so happy about that then I think it’s enough for this season.”
GALAXY TO MAKE DECISION ON SFISO HLANTI
TS Galaxy also have a decision to make on another KwaZulu-Natal player Sfiso Hlanti who’s been training with them as he hopes for a contract.
