Augustine Mulenga reveals what Vilakazi and Zwane have brought to AmaZulu
AmaZulu FC striker Augustine Mulenga has singled out one-factor Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane have brought to the club since taking over as co-coaches.
The pair were named AmaZulu’s co-coaches in October last year after the KwaZulu-Natal outfit showed coach Pablo Franco Martin and his assistant Aitor Van Den Brule the exit door.
Since then, Vilakazi and Zwane have guided Usuthu to 12th place in the Betway Premiership log standings, with 13 points after 12 matches.
This is a team that the duo took from the bottom of the table following AmaZulu’s three consecutive defeats at the start of the campaign under the tutelage of the Spanish mentor, Martin.
AUGUSTINE MULENGA ON WHAT VUSUMUZI VILAKAZI AND ARTHUR ZWANE HAVE INSTILLED IN THE AMAZULU FC TEAM
Mulenga stated that Vilakazi and Zwane fostered a sense of togetherness to restore Usuthu’s sparkle, as they felt like the team was not united.
“I think the change here is due to our former coach. Every coach has his own tactics and style of play,” said Mulenga after the Nedbank Cup Last 32 draw.
“The new coaches have brought something to our team that is not the same as what our previous coach was doing. They are trying to get us together because sometimes they think we are not united, considering the team’s quality.
“We have too much quality in our team. So, they always try to emphasise the spirit of togetherness so that we can achieve the club’s goals.”
In the Nedbank Cup Round of 32, AmaZulu will battle it out with the SAFA Eastern Cape ABC Motsepe League side Mighty Eagles. In due course, the PSL will confirm the time and venues for the tournament’s Last 32 matches.
But before then, Usuthu will focus on the upcoming league game against Magesi FC, which will be played away from home on Saturday, 11 January. The game will start at 15:30 at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium.
