SuperSport United loan teenager to Pretoria Callies

SuperSport United are set to loan teenage striker Nokutenda Mangezi to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies. Mangezi joined Matsatsantsa from Zimbabwean academy Real Betis at the start of the season.

The talented forward made his SuperSport debut against Mamelodi Sundowns in September 2024, impressing despite losing the match 2-0. Since then, he has made seven appearances in the Betway Premiership but is yet to score a goal. He also featured in the 4-0 loss to Kaizer Chiefs in the Carling Knockout Cup.

SuperSport coach Gavin Hunt was forced to use the youngster with his strikers unavailable at the start of the season. The striker he relied on last season, Etiosa Ighodaro, moved to AmaZulu FC on loan from his parent club, Sundowns.

Veteran forward Bradley Grobler was ruled out due to injury, but he has since returned. Samir Nurkovic was signed late in the year, but could only start playing in January 2025.

It only left Mangezi, Terrence Dzvukamanja and Tashreeq Morris to share the load.

WHY SUPERSPORT UNITED HAVE LOANED MANGEZI TO PRETORIA CALLIES

With Grobler, Nurkovic, Dzvukamanja and Morris now all available, SuperSport believe the Zimbabwean forward’s development could be hindered by limited game time.

To ensure his continued progress, they have agreed to loan Mangezi to Callies for the remainder of the season. The club believes that regular playing time in the Motsepe Foundation Championship will significantly contribute to his development.

FARPost can confirm that the paperwork for the 19-year-old’s move has been finalised. All things being equal, he is expected to start training with Callies this week.

Following their 3-0 defeat at the weekend to Sekhukhune United, the Tshwane side is in 10th place. They have amassed 16 points from 13 games. SuperSport won four games, drew four times and lost five.
