AmaZulu FC confirm signing of Chippa United attacker
AmaZulu FC have announced the signing of Chippa United attacker Elmo Kambindu for the second round of the 2024/25 Betway Premiership season.
Usuthu are making changes in their squad following an inconsistent start to the campaign. The dismal start saw AmaZulu fire head coach Pablo Franco Martin in October 2024.
The Spanish tactician was replaced by Vusumuzi Vilakazi and Arthur Zwane, who are serving as co-coaches at the KZN-based side.
In December 2024, AmaZulu made big transfer moves, securing the signatures of Bongani Zungu and Sandile Mthethwa. Zungu was signed as a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns in July 2024, while Mthethwa parted ways with Orlando Pirates in November 2024 to sign with AmaZulu.
The club also promoted reserve team talents Tebogo Mashigo [22] and winger Siphosenkosi Ngubane [21]. In addition, AmaZulu have also sent Junior Dion and Yanga Mjoli on loan to Marumo Gallants for the remainder of the season.
On Tuesday, the club unveiled Kambindu as their new player, formerly with Betway Premiership side Chippa, as they look to improve their attacking threat.
AMAZULU STRENGTHEN THE SQUAD WITH THE SIGNING ELMO KAMBINDU
“AmaZulu Football Club has announced the signing of Namibian international forward Elmo Kambindu [31] from Betway Premiership side Chippa United. The acquisition aims to strengthen the squad during the January FIFA transfer window,” reads the club statement.
President Sandile Zungu welcomed Kambindu to AmaZulu FC after the player completed his medical examination. The Brave Warriors striker said that he is excited about joining Usuthu.
“I want to thank the president for bringing me to this wonderful club. I’m happy to be here and excited to score more goals with the team. The support I’ve received since my arrival has been incredible. To the fans, I encourage you to show up in numbers to support us, and we’ll deliver on the field,” said Kambindu.
A native of Otjiwarongo, Kambindu is the eighth Namibian player to represent AmaZulu, bringing valuable international experience to the team.
Furthermore, AmaZulu confirmed that goalkeeper Olwethu Mzimela and midfielder Siyanda Hlabangeza are joining Durban City FC on loan in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
“The pair will spend the remainder of the 2024/25 season with Durban City, gaining valuable game time and experience while contributing to the club’s pursuit of promotion to the Premiership.”
