CT City’s Fortune Makaringe issues injury update
Cape Town City FC’s talented midfielder, Fortune Makaringe, has issued an update on the injury setback he sustained in the first round of the Betway Premiership.
Makaringe was unfortunate as he suffered an ankle injury earlier in the season, in November 2024. This was a few months after linking up with the Cape Town outfit following his departure from Orlando Pirates.
For The Citizens, the 32-year-old has made eight appearances in all competitions. However, he’s yet to contribute towards a goal.
The last time Makaringe featured for the Capetonians was at the end of October 2024 in the 3-0 defeat in the Betway Premiership encounter against Mamelodi Sundowns. All in all, the midfielder has missed CT City’s eight league matches.
When he finally recovers from the injury later this season, he will be under new interim coach Muhsin Ertugral. The Turkish mentor replaced Eric Tinkler at the helm following a slow start to the season and inconsistent results.
FORTUNE MAKARINGE SAYS HE’S RECOVERING FASTER THAN EXPECTED
The former Maritzburg United player [now called Durban City FC] revealed that he’s recovering faster than expected. He has been working hard in rehabilitation and is optimistic about his return to full fitness.
When CT City announced the sad news about Makaringe’s injury, they didn’t provide the length of the injury and estimated date of return to action. They only stated that Makaringe will be on the sidelines for an “extended period of time”.
“I’ve been out for some time now, but I’m taking good steps in my progress. Actually, I’m healing quicker than expected,” said Makaringe.
“I still believe I’m young and a happy footballer who is trying, by all means, to take care of himself, so I can play football for a long time to come.”
