Orlando Pirates youngster secures loan move to the NFD
In a move aimed at fostering his development, a promising young Orlando Pirates player has secured a loan move to a club in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
The talented youngster will spend the remainder of the season gaining valuable first-team experience in the second tier of SA football at Kruger United.
This loan move will not only allow midfielder Kgwadi Molepo to hone his skills in a competitive environment in the NFD but also demonstrate his readiness for a potential future role within the Pirates’ first team.
Molepo, who has impressed as captain of the Pirates’ DStv Diski Challenge [DDC] side previously caught the eye of first-team coach Jose Riveiro and trained with the senior squad.

The highly-rated Molepo will be eager to follow in the footsteps of other Pirates youngsters who are making strides in the first team after successful loan spells.
Boitumelo Radiopane had a decent loan stint at Cape Town Spurs in the second-tier league after his impressive performances in the DDC. He won the Golden Boot in the 2021/22 season, scoring 24 goals.
Similarly, Thabiso Sesane, now a key player at Pirates, benefitted from successful loan periods at All Stars and Jomo Cosmos in the NFD. Azola Tshobeni also improved during his loan spell at JDR Stars.
MOLEPO SET TO BOOST KRUGER UNITED’S DEBUT PSL CAMPAIGN
Kruger United, in their debut PSL season, will be hoping that Molepo can hit the ground running as they aim to maintain their impressive start to the campaign.
The Motsepe Foundation Championship newcomers sit fifth on the log standings after 15 games, eight points behind log leaders Durban City FC [formerly Maritzburg United]. They have won six matches, drawn five and lost on four occasions.
Meanwhile, Golden Arrows DDC star Samkele Mlaba has also been loaned out to Hungry Lions FC in the Motsepe Foundation Championship. Sekhukhune United duo Teboho Letsema and Karabo Tlaka will spend the second round of the season at Upington City FC and Casric Stars, respectively.
