Nedbank Cup Last 32 draw details revealed
The PSL have confirmed the dates, venues, and kick-off times for the highly-anticipated Nedbank Cup Last 32 encounters.
The announcement of the Round of 32 details follows the draw, which took place at the Nedbank headquarters in Sandton a week ago.
The opening salvo will be fired on Friday evening, 24 January, at 19:00 when Motsepe Foundation Championship side Pretoria Callies host Marumo Gallants at the Lucas Moripe Stadium.
Saturday will witness a flurry of action, with five clashes. Umvoti FC will lock horns with Baroka FC at the Harry Gwala Stadium [15:00]. At the same time, Lerumo Lions will face a stern test against Durban City FC at Olympia Park Stadium.
Umvoti and Lerumo, both playing their football in the lower division – ABC Motsepe League, will be eager to pull off upsets in their respective games in the competition, often referred to as the “Cup of Dreams.”
At Hammarsdale Stadium, Golden Arrows will host Chippa United at 15:00. Simultaneously, Venda FC will face Cape Town Spurs at Thohoyandou Stadium.
The final match of the day will see ABC Motsepe League outfit Sibanye Golden Stars take on the formidable Mamelodi Sundowns at the Loftus Versveld Stadium on Saturday at 18:00.
NEDBANK CUP LAST 32: WILL THE UNDERDOGS RISE AGAIN?
Sunday promises four more captivating matchups, with Mpheni Home Defenders from the third-tier league set to take on Hungry Lions FC at Thohoyandou Stadium [15:00].
But the biggest challenge of the day belongs to Richards Bay FC, who will play against defending champions Orlando Pirates at the King Zwelithini Stadium [15:00]. Meanwhile, at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium, Polokwane City FC will play against The Bees [15:00].
Kaizer Chiefs will close off action on the day at FNB Stadium, looking to avoid a shock defeat against Free Agents FC [18:00].
Monday evening will see a KZN Derby unfold as Royal AM battle Milford FC at the Harry Gwala Stadium. Simultaneously, Sekhukhune United and Cape Town City FC will renew their rivalry at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium; both games start at 19:00.
AmaZulu FC will welcome Mighty Eagles to the King Zwelithini Stadium on Tuesday, while Stellenbosch FC will entertain Kruger United FC at the Danie Craven Stadium. Furthermore, Magesi FC will host SuperSport United at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. All three encounters will kick off at 19:00.
The final act of the Round of 32 will see TS Galaxy FC go head-to-head with CR Vasco Da Gama at the Mbombela Stadium [19:00].
