Sekhukhune United identify Ngakosso-Oko as replacement for Mogaila

Sekhukhune United FC look set to bolster their squad with the signing of Congolese midfielder Alves Ngakosso-Oko.

The move comes amid uncertainty surrounding the future of right-back Shaun Mogaila, whose legal troubles following a car accident in October have cast a shadow over his career.

The 29-year-old Mogaila is currently facing legal proceedings after allegedly crashing his BMW into a vehicle carrying an adult woman and two children in Johannesburg. The ongoing court case has created significant uncertainty regarding his availability for the team.

In response to the potential loss of Mogaila, Sekhukhune United has been actively searching for a right-back replacement. Their search led them to Ngakosso-Oko, a 24-year-old midfielder who impressed the club during his time with DRC outfit CSMD Diables Noirs in the CAF Confederation Cup last season.

Ngakosso-Oko caught the eye of Sekhukhune United during their clash with CSMD Diables Noirs in Polokwane, where he scored a goal despite his team’s eventual 2-1 defeat.

While primarily a right back, Ngakosso-Oko can also play as a box-to-box midfielder. His versatility and evident talent convinced the club to pursue him.

The 24-year-old Congolese player has been training with Sekhukhune United since December. His performances during the trial period have impressed the club, leading to the decision to offer him a contract.

With the imminent signing of Ngakosso-Oko, Sekhukhune United are expected to conclude their transfer activity for the current window. The club has already secured the services of Katlego Otladisa from Orlando Pirates. They also snapped up Kagiso Mayinga from Tembisa Hollywood Thunder.

Currently placed fourth on the Betway Premiership table, Sekhukhune will now look to integrate their new signings into the squad. Babina Noko take on Kaizer Chiefs at Moses Mabhinda on Sunday.
