Mamelodi Sundowns coach Miguel Cardoso has given glowing comments on striker Peter Shalulile’s mental fortitude when experiencing a slump in form.

Cardoso said Shalulile and his Sundowns senior players have a better way of emotionally facing adversities particularly, when form slumps.

“Our job is to give tools, so that the players can perform in the best ways in different moments that the game gives.

“Naturally, the players that have more experience and more quality, that have a better way to emotionally face the games, usually appear high in the right moments.

“And we just need to create the right mindset and right emotions, so that everything comes naturally.

“What I felt in the last week is that, the team can do with the spirit of facing the adversities like that game [against AS Maniema Union].

“The game was even harder than it was supposed to be. We overcame the difficulties, we trust on everything.

“Last game it was Peter [Shalulile], we have had Iqraam [Rayners], giving us decisive goals. Lucas [Ribeiro] has also given us the same.

“The most important thing is how we face each moment as a team and how we focus,” Cardoso said.

CARDOSO ON HIS TEAM’S ABILITY TO HANDLE AN UNFORGIVING FIXTURE SCHEDULE

Meanwhile Cardoso hailed his men’s character as they remain high in spirits despite their unforgiving fixture schedule.

“This is a decision moment, so we worked very well in the week something that we haven’t been able to do because of the tight schedule so it was important that we have days to train and also recover,” he added.
