Chiefs hold onto DDC top spot, Pirates back to winning
Kaizer Chiefs maintained their top spot in the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) table after a win over Marumo Gallants during the weekend.
Matala Makhubo’s solitary goal proved decisive with Amakhosi collecting maximum points away from home.
This victory marked Chiefs’ third consecutive win, while Gallants have yet to secure a victory this season. Chiefs currently occupy the summit of the table with 33 points from 14 matches, while Bahlabane Ba Ntwa remain rooted to the bottom of the table with a mere three points from 15 games.
Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates bounced back to winning ways, narrowly overcoming Polokwane City with a 2-1 victory at Isak Steyl Stadium.
Siphamandla Msezane emerged as the hero for Orlando Pirates, netting two goals, one in the first half and another in the second.
The Sea Robbers, who had struggled in recent weeks with two defeats and a draw in their last three matches, finally tasted victory. This win propelled them up the table to eighth place with 22 points from their 14 matches played.
On the same day, Mamelodi Sundowns extended their winning run to two matches with a 2-1 win over TS Galaxy. The Brazilians maintained their position in second place on the log, having collected 32 points from 14 matches.
On Sunday, SuperSport United defeated Cape Town City 2-0 extending their winning streak to four matches while halting the Citizens’ two-game winning run.
Matsatsantsa remain in third position in the tandings with 31 points after 15 games while City are fifth having accumulated 26 from 14 matches.
Golden Arrows secured a 1-0 victory against Chippa United, while Magesi and Richards Bay triumphed over Sekhukhune United 2-1 and AmaZulu 2-1, respectively.
