Jerry Sikhosana lambasts ‘horrible’ match officiating

Tembisa Hollywood Thunder chairman Jerry Sikhosana expressed disappointment with some ‘horrible’ match officiating. The Orlando Pirates legend spoke about their Gauteng ABC Motsepe League match against La Masia over the weekend.

The side suffered a 2-1 defeat to La Masia at Bosmont Stadium. As a result, the former Orlando Pirates legend lamented the officiating in the SAFA Gauteng ABC Motsepe League.

In a post-match outburst, Sikhosana expressed disappointment, describing the officiating as “horrible.”

Sikhosana insisted that the referee should have handled the game fairly. He believes that La Masia’s two goals were blatant offsides.

JERRY SIKHOSANA NOT HAPPY WITH MATCH OFFICIALS

Sikhosana stated that something urgently needs to be done about match officiating shenanigans in the Gauteng Motsepe League, as clubs spend a lot of money in the amateur league.

“Honestly, what we got was not from La Masia as a team but from the third team, which is match officiating. That was horrible—very horrible,” said Sikhosana in a post-match interview with Football Stage.

“I just hope and believe that some people need to see the video clips if they are available so that they can make their own judgment. There is a lot happening in terms of our refereeing here in the ABC Motsepe League that needs to be addressed as soon as possible.

“A lot of money is spent in this league. If they come here being promised money from the opposition, that is not good for football. Especially here in South Africa. We need strong Bafana Bafana players who know they need to give their best on the field, not to be assisted by the match officials.”

‘IF YOU ARE NOT STRONG ENOUGH, YOU WILL ALWAYS CRY FOUL’, SAYS JERRY SIKHOSANA

Sikhosana added: “You know what is happening in CAF games: if you are not strong enough, especially as a team from South Africa, you always cry foul. This is why I’m crying now. This is the third time I have been robbed like this. There were two blatant offsides where the opposition players who played those balls came to me and said, “Sorry, coach, I did see I was not in an onside position.” What can you do? We lose games like this, and players and coaches come to apologise after the match. But the three points are gone at the end of the day. Who can you blame? Match officials.”

Tembisa Hollywood Thunder are currently placed fifth on the log standings with 26 points after 15 games.
