‘They have to know this’: Ben Youssef’s message to Chiefs fans

Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef has sent message to Amakhosi faithful after his side downed Sekhukhune United this past weekend.

The Phefeni Glamour Boys collected a 1-0 victory thanks to a late strike from the young Mfundo Vilakazi.

This win propelled them into fifth position in the league standings, where they currently possess 21 points from 14 matches.

Speaking after the match, Ben Youssef urged the fans to remain steadfast in their support, emphasising the importance of unwavering backing, both in times of triumph and adversity.

This was after fans expressed their displeasure with certain decisions, including the introduction of captain Yusuf Maart in the second half and calls for his subsequent substitution after a missed opportunity.

BEN YOUSSEF SAYS THEY NEED CHIEFS FANS EVEN IN ‘CRITICAL SITUATION’

“I hope they forgive us about the last game. They have to know that we need them when we are in a critical situation,” said Ben Youssef.

“More than when we are in a good situation. Always, they support us. They have to be sure that we are in the right direction.

“But we need just passion. We need to be passionate and to be sure that we are on the right side. That’s it.”

Meanwhile, about the game, Ben Youssef said they were unlucky not to be able to score the opportunities that they created. He feels this has been a recurring issue.

‘IT WAS A TACTICAL GAME’

“It was a tactical game, like we prepared before the playing of the game,” he added.

“Like I said before the game, that’s a UD physical game. For that, we chose to play this game. Before one week, I was here in the same position to discuss about the game of Golden Arrows.

“I said every game we make a lot of opportunities, but sometimes we are unlucky or sometimes the players are not focused. There is a lot of problems inside. In this game, the same problem, I think.

“In the first half, we get more than five opportunities to score. We don’t score. We discussed in the halftime, we said we have to be smart.

“If you don’t score, you have to stay focused. You don’t want to score, then unfortunately you will get another opportunity. You have to be more focused to score.”
