Mxolisi Macuphu spotted at Richards Bay FC
Following his departure from Royal AM, striker Mxolisi Macuphu has been spotted at Richards Bay FC as he embarks on a new chapter in his footballing journey.
The striker has left Royal AM, bringing an end to a three-year relationship with the Pietermaritzburg-based club. He joined them in January 2022 from TS Galaxy.
The 35-year-old striker was reportedly among the players who requested a transfer from Royal AM due to the club’s failure to pay salaries in December.
Furthermore, Macuphu’s departure from Royal AM appears to be partly motivated by a significant outstanding debt for signing-on fees.

According to the insiders, Macuphu was with the team on Monday as they prepared for their upcoming Nedbank Cup match against Orlando Pirates on Sunday, 26 January.
The club is hoping that the veteran forward will boost their goal-scoring as the striking department has been struggling somewhat this season.
They have a negative 10 goal difference having only found the back of the net on five occasions while they conceded 15 goals in 14 matches.
Richards Bay, identified as a potential relegation candidate, currently occupies 14th position in the league standings, having accrued nine points out of a possible 42.
Macuphu hasn’t gotten much playing time this season under the guidance of John Maduka at Royal AM, making only three appearances in all competitions – two in the Betway Premiership and one in the Carling Knockout Cup.
In the event that his signing is concluded, he will come in as a replacement for Thabang Sibanyoni who left the Natal Rich Boyz and returned to his parent club Mamelodi Sundowns.
In addition, Richards Bay also parted ways with another Sundowns loanee in Thando Buthelezi who had only made four appearances this season.
