CT City announce signing of highly-rated SA junior international
Cape Town City FC have announced the signing of highly-rated SA junior international Patrick Autata to beef up their squad for the second round of the Betway Premiership season.
The Citizens are aiming to make a strong finish to the 2024/25 season after having a challenging start under the guidance Eric Tinkler.
Following City’s unpleasant start to the season, they parted ways with Eric Tinkler in December, 2024.
Veteran tactician Muhsin ErtuÄŸral was roped in to replace Tinkler for the remainder of the campaign. According to the club’s statement, ErtuÄŸral is serving as technical director and head coach.
Since the arrival of former Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates mentor, City have seen an improvement after winning three matches and losing only once in four matches in the league.
They collected maximum points against Pirates, Chiefs, Richards Bay FC and only tasted defeat against Marumo Gallants.
CAPE TOWN CITY BEEF UP THE SQUAD WITH SA U20 CAPTAIN
With the chances of challenging for the league title slowly slipping away from City, they will be hoping to make a real push for the last piece of silverware for the season – the Nedbank Cup.
The Cape Town-based outfit will face Sekhukhune United in the opening round of the 2025 Nedbank Cup at Old Peter Mokaba on Monday, 27 January 2025.
Autata joins them from TS Galaxy’s DStv Diski Challenge side. The SA U20 captain has been bossing the midfield in the Galaxy reserve side under Bernard Parker.
“Cape Town City is delighted to confirm the acquisition of South African national team captain, Patrick Autata. Welcome to your new home Patrick.” City said on social media.
In another transfer move, the 2018 MTN8 champions announced that they agreed a deal with the MLS side FC Cincinnati for the transfer of Xhosa Manyama.
