DDC: Chiefs extend lead at summit as Stellies sink Sundowns
Kaizer Chiefs extended their lead at the summit of the DStv Diski Challenge (DDC) after securing a victory over the weekend, while Mamelodi Sundowns suffered a defeat against champions Stellenbosch.
Amakhosi continued with their form collecting their fourth victory in a row after defeating Cape Town City 3-1 in a match held at the FNB Stadium.
Meanwhile, it was the second loss for the Western Cape side having suffered another defeat to SuperSport United last week.
The Phefeni Glamour Boys have collected 36 points from their first 15 league matches. Meanwhile, the Citizens are in the fifth position with 26 points from the same number of games.
MASANDAWANA’S TEN-MATCH UNBEATEN RUN COMES TO AN END
Meanwhile, Masandawana suffered a 4-3 defeat at the hands of Stellenbosch FC at the Lucas Moripe Stadium. This setback brought an end to their impressive ten-match unbeaten streak.
This result relegated them to third place in the standings. SuperSport United ascended to second position after securing a decisive 6-4 victory over Chippa United with Stellenbosch remaining in fourth place.
Orlando Pirates, on the other hand, picked up a slender 1-0 triumph victory strugglers Marumo Gallants at Isak Steyl Stadium.
The Sea Robbers are currently in seventh place in the league table, having amassed 25 points from their first 15 matches. Marumo Gallants, languishing in 15th place, are still searching for their first win of the season
In other matches, Magesi suffered a 3-1 defeat to Golden Arrows in Bloemfontein. Richards Bay FC was also defeated, losing 2-1 to Sekhukhune United. Finally, Polokwane City and Bernard Parker’s TS Galaxy played to a 0-0 draw.
