Chiefs Coach comments on Chivaviro’s goal vs. Free agents
Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Khalil Ben Youssef believes Ranga Chivaviro’s goal against Free Agents marks a turning point following his recent goal-scoring struggles.
Chivaviro has struggled to score regularly under the Nasreddine Nabi-led technical team. So far, Chivaviro has scored five goals in 15 matches across all competitions.
He has faced significant criticism from the fans of the Soweto giants for not living up to his billing. In fact, some Amakhosi supporters have called on the club to offload the 32-year-old forward, citing he has consistently fallen short of expectations.
CHIEFS ASSISTANT COACH KHALIL BEN YOUSSEF NOT GIVING UP ON CHIVAVIRO
However, Kaizer Chiefs assistant coach Ben Youssef is not giving up on the forward, insisting he is still needed by the club. Ben Youssef believes Chivaviro’s goal against Free Agents FC in the Nedbank Cup signifies a change of fortunes.
“For sure this goal will help him a lot. Last time Ranga was unlucky. He missed a lot of chances and when a striker starts to hit the target, it’s a good impression.
“Like I said last time, we have worked a lot with him. Even our mental coach worked with him a lot. I think this goal will help him a lot. The season is so long, so we need a lot of players. I think with this goal, Ranga will come back,” he said.
Undoubtedly, Chivaviro will need to step up as the team has welcomed a new centre forward. The Naturena-based club recently completed the signing former SuperSport United striker Tashreeq Morris. Morris could be available to play a part in the Soweto derby on Saturday when Chiefs face their arch-nemesis Orlando Pirates. The match is set for the FNB Stadium.
