Dates and venues for Bafana Bafana’s AFCON 2025 fixtures
Bafana Bafana have learned the three teams they will face during the 2025 AFCON, along with the venues and dates for the matches. CAF held a prestigious draw ceremony at the Mohammed V National Theatre in Rabat.
The 24 qualified teams were divided into six groups of four. The top two teams from each group and the four best third-placed teams will advance to the knockout stage.
Bafana, placed in Pot 2 according to the December FIFA rankings, will compete against Egypt, Angola, and Zimbabwe in Group B. The action begins on December 21, as host nation Morocco faces off against Comoros, while the 2025 AFCON is set to continue until January 18, 2026.
HERE ARE THE DATES & VENUES FOR BAFANA BAFANA’S THREE OPENING AFCON MATCHES
South Africa play their opening match against Angola on December 22, 2025 at the Adrar Stadium in Agadir. The 45000-seater, also known as Grand Stade d’Agadir, is used as a home venue by the local football team, Hassania Agadir.
Agadir, where Bafana play their first two games, is a city along Morocco’s southern Atlantic coast, in the foothills of the Anti-Atlas Mountains. The resort destination is known for its golf courses, wide crescent beach and seaside promenade lined with cafes restaurants and bars.
On Boxing Day, Bafana return to the same venue to face Egypt in a potentially explosive encounter. Their last group B fixture will be against neighbours Zimbabwe at the Grand Stade de Marrakech. The modern stadium, with a capacity of 41,245, is equipped with world-class facilities.
Marrakech stands out as a premier destination for travellers, offering a variety of sights such as Jemaa el-Fnaa Square, Majorelle Garden and Koutoubia Mosque.
