Kaizer Chiefs’ Mdantsane heads to Richards Bay
Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Mduduzi Mdantsane will spend the remainder of the season on loan at Richards Bay. The two clubs have finalised the loan transfer, and the midfielder is scheduled to travel to KwaZulu-Natal to complete his move.
Mdantsane missed the preseason due to an injury sustained in a motor vehicle accident. The former Baroka midfielder had surgery to repair a broken jaw he sustained during the accident. Since his recovery, he has struggled to regain a place in the team under Nasreddine Nabi. In fact, Nabi has yet to name him on a match-day squad this season.
His only appearance this season was in the Home of Legends Cup in Gqeberha, where he did well. He converted the penalty that won Amakhosi the inaugural tournament. However, that performance has not earned him a place in the squad.
WHY KAIZER CHIEFS ARE LOANING MDUDUZI MDANTSANE OUT
Chiefs have since decided to loan him and give him game time for the next four months. The deal would mean he returns to Naturena ahead of the 2025/26 season.
Mdantsane, a product of Chiefs’ academy, joined the club at the start of the 2023/24 season. Last season, he featured in 16 matches in all competitions, scoring a goal and providing an assist. His contract will expire in June 2026.
Meanwhile, Richards Bay are currently 14th after just collecting nine points this season. They have only won two matches and are desperate for quality, particularly in midfield. According to a FARPost source, the club identified attacking midfield as a priority position during this window.
Once they heard of the availability of the 30-year-old midfielder, they jumped at the opportunity. The Natal Rich Boyz also have another Chiefs midfielder on loan. Sabelo Radebe moved to the KZN club at the start of the season.
However, he has not had much game time. The 24-year-old has made three substitute appearances this season. His latest cameo was on Sunday against Orlando Pirates when he came on for the last seven minutes.
