Mamelodi Sundowns confirm Keanu Cupido’s signing
Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of defender Keanu Cupido from Cape Town City.
The utility player makes a significant switch, leaving the Mother City for the allure of Chloorkop. The Tshwane giants welcome the addition to their defensive ranks.
This marks an end to the 27-year-old’s relationship with the Citizens, a journey that began in July 2018 following his transfer from AC Ajaccio B in France.
At City, Cupido amassed 143 appearances across all competitions, scoring one goal and registering three assists in the process.
Bafana Ba Style have taken to social media, unveiling the former Bidvest Wits star.
SUNDOWNS UNVEIL KEANU CUPIDO
“Bafana Bafana international defender Keanu Cupido has joined The Brazilians on a long-term deal!,” Sundowns announced via their social media platforms.
Expressing his feelings following his unveiling, Cupido described the moment as the “proudest” for him knowing the club that he is joining.
“I feel like this is a full circle for me. I came here as a kid, I left and now I’m back,” said Cupido.
”This is the proudest moment for me as a footballer cause I know the standards of Mamelodi Sundowns and I feel like I need keep the standards as well.
“My name is Keanu Cupido and I’m Yellow.”
Cupido is the second defender to sign for Masandawana this season. They have concluded a deal with Lucas Suárez, who’s yet to be unveiled.
The additions of Cupido and Suárez come following the departure Rushine De Reuck who left the club to sign for Israel outfit Maccabi Petah Tikva on a loan deal for the remainder of the season.
The club has also welcomed midfielder Jayden Adams from Stellenbosch FC. The Bafana Bafana star has already made his debut in the Nedbank Cup clash against Sibanyoni Golden Stars.
