What Gavin Hunt makes of Saile’s debut performance
SuperSport United head coach Gavin Hunt has shared his thoughts on Christian Saile’s debut performance for the Tshwane side.
The Congolese forward signed for Matsatsantsa from Kaizer Chiefs in a swap deal that saw Tashreeq Morris joining the Soweto giants.
Saile was unveiled by SuperSport a few hours before their Nedbank Cup Round of 32 clash against Magesi FC at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium. The game ended with a 2-0 scoreline in favour of SuperSport. Vincent Pule scored the opener while Saile also opened his scoring account in his maiden appearance for SuperSport.
As a result, SuperSport advanced to the Nedbank Cup Last 16 and will wait to see who they face next when the draw is conducted on Wednesday evening.
The former Amakhosi frontman was officially announced alongside Ghanaian winger, Enoch Quaicoe on a two-year deal with an option to renew for a further year.
GAVIN HUNT ON NEW SUPERSPORT UNITED STRIKER CHRISTIAN SAILE’S DEBUT DISPLAYS
Hunt expressed his delight for Saile, who managed to make a quick impact in Matsatsantsa’s set-up just a few days since joining them.
He went on to state that he was sad to see Morris leave, but reckons that he got a different player in Saile and believes he will fit in perfectly into SuperSport’s culture.
“Look, I mean, we are all thinking about how he is different, and we needed something like that, you know? I was obviously sad to see Tashreeq Morris go, but we got Christian Saile in his place,” Hunt told Journalists in Polokwane.
“He is quite different, and we will try to use him to his strengths, and we will see where it goes. Only time will tell if he is someone we can get the best out of.
“We can only show him a few things and try to get him in the right areas, and then see where we go from there. But he has got the right attitude for us.”
Hunt continued: “I think he will fit into our culture. The most important thing is for the player coming in to fit well into our culture, and he is hard-working, honest, and diligent, and that is what we want.”
