Shalulile scores brace as Sundowns thrash Arrows

Super-sub Peter Shalulile scored a brace when Mamelodi Sundowns collected maximum points at Lucas Moripe Stadium following their 4-0 victory over Golden Arrows in their Betway Premiership clash on Sunday evening.

A few hours before the match, Sundowns welcomed back Matias Esquivel from his loan spell in Argentina.

The talented midfielder was on loan at his former side Talleres de CĂłrdoba. To add to that, the 25-year-old made Sundowns’ matchday squad as he was on the bench.

SPHELELE MKHULISE IN MAMELODI SUNDOWNS XI DESPITE CR BELOUIZDAD LINKS

In the past few days, Sphelele Mkhulise has been heavily linked with a move to Algerian side CR Belouizdad.

Surprisingly, the midfielder started the game against the KwaZulu-Natal outfit. However, Mkhulise was replaced by Peter Shalulile in the 37th minute of the clash.

Ribeiro continued with his fine scoring form when he broke the deadlock in the 44th minute from a spot kick after Shalulile was brought down in the box.

So far, the Brazilian-born frontman has scored seven league goals and provided three assists. Ribeiro is currently the Betway Premiership’s leading top goal-scorer.

Shalulile added to the scoreline in the 65th minute of the contest. ‘Shasha’, as he’s affectionately known, completed his brace in the 80th minute, with Teboho Mokoena scoring the fourth goal in the 85th minute of the match.

In another league fixture played this afternoon, TS Galaxy were able to use their home-ground advantage to sink Cape Town City FC 2-0 at Mbombela Stadium, in Mpumalanga.

First-half goals from Samukelo Kapini and Dzenan Zajmovic were enough to earn the Rockets maximum points on their own turf.
