Ex-Pirates star Khethokwakhe Masuku finds new home
Former Orlando Pirates and Black Leopards star Khethokwakhe Masuku has found a new home in the ABC Motsepe League.
Masuku has been a free agent since parting ways with NB La Masia in January 2023 before the club was relegated from the Motsepe Foundation Championship to the ABC Motsepe League last season.
The 39-year-old has found it challenging to secure a contract with the PSL teams as he’s nearing the end of his football career.
Masuku broke into the scene in 2007 with Black Leopards and quickly gained prominence as one of the most talented and skilful wingers in South Africa.
His impressive skills in eliminating defenders, scoring goals, and providing assists earned him a big move to Orlando Pirates in 2012. During his stint with The Buccaneers, Masuku made 49 appearances, scored four goals and contributed 12 assists across all competitions.
After leaving Pirates, the attacker went on to play for teams such as Bloemfontein Celtic, Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila FC, Royal Eagles, La Masia and Baberwa FC.
MASUKU REJOINS SOWETO SUPER UNITED IN THE ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE
With the Soweto-born dribbling wizard seemingly planning to retire anytime soon, he has rejoined struggling ABC Motsepe League side Soweto Super United. He played for the club in 2013 in the same league.
Soweto Super United are currently rooted at the bottom of the log in the SA’s third division with eight points after 19 matches played.
On the other hand, Highlands Park are sitting top of the log standings with 45 points after winning 14 games, drawing three while losing two in 19 games.
Meanwhile, Masuku will be hoping to help SSU move out of the relegation zone and maintain their status in the Motsepe League.
Masuku joins Tebogo Langerman, Edward Manqele, Joseph Malongoane, Rooi Mahamutsa, Luyolo Nomandela, and Thabiso Nkoane as some of the former PSL players in the ABC Motsepe League.
