Morris set for Chiefs debut amidst another player suspension
Newly signed Kaizer Chiefs striker Tashreeq Morris looks set to make his debut for the club.
Morris joined Amakhosi from SuperSport United on a two-and-a-half-year contract, as announced by the club last week on Monday.
His signing was announced alongside that of Glody Lilepo and Thabo Cele. While Cele and Lilepo made their debuts, Morris couldn’t feature in the Soweto Derby against Orlando Pirates on Saturday. This was due to a suspension for a red card he received in his last match for SuperSport.
Morris was red-carded in a Betway Premiership match against his former club Sekhukhune United.
As a result, he missed Matsatsantsa’s match against Polokwane City FC before completing his move. He then missed the Soweto Derby and is available for the next match. The Nasreddine Nabi-coached side welcomes AmaZulu FC for a league match on Tuesday evening.
However, Nabi will have to plan without one of his senior players ahead of the Usuthu clash.
WHICH CHIEFS PLAYER IS SUSPENDED FOR THE AMAZULU CLASH
Njabulo Blom received his fourth yellow card on Saturday against The Buccaneers. It means he will miss the next league game for Chiefs. He will be available for the match against Stellenbosch FC on Friday, away at the Athlone Stadium in Cape Town.
Meanwhile, Stellenbosch FC will have to do without their revered left back, Fawaaz Basadien. Basadien would have missed the Royal AM game, but indications are that it will be postponed. It means, he will miss the game against Chiefs on Friday.
Mamelodi Sundowns, who play SuperSport on Wednesday, will be without Bathusi Aubaas, who misses his second match. He was red-carded against Sibanye Gold Stars in the Nedbank Cup Last 32. Aubaas missed the 4-0 win over Golden Arrows on Sunday and will sit out the tie against SuperSport.
Other Suspensions: Thabo Maloka [Chippa United]; Masindi Nemtajela, Siyabulela Shai [both Marumo Gallants]; Sibusiso Magaqa [Royal AM]; Relebogile Mokhuane and Siphesihle Mkhize [both Sekhukhune United].
