Siphelele Mthembu set to return to his former club after Baroka exit

Siphelele Mthembu could be set for a return to Pretoria Callies, FARPost has learned. The veteran striker recently left Motsepe Foundation Championship side Baroka FC after a short stint.

The former Kaizer Chiefs striker was amongst the 11 new signings announced by Baroka before the start of the season. But Mthembu has since left the club and is set to rejoin Callies for the second round of the season.

FARPost has established that Mthembu has been training with Callies for the past few weeks under the watchful eye of coach Fabio Lopez.

While the club has not made a decision in terms of signing him, Mthembu is eligible to be registered beyond the transfer window period. The veteran striker parted ways with Baroka while the January transfer window was still open, making him a free agent.

Meanwhile, Callies are also able to register players after their transfer ban by FIFA was lifted, with Mthembu likely to be the first player. The club was banned after a dispute with Ivorian forward Zeyatane Dramane Kouma. The club was reportedly ordered to pay over R119,534.16 to the player, which they have since settled.
