Why Chippa United brought back Morgan Mammila for third stint
Chippa United head coach Thabo September has revealed why they have brought back Morgan Mammila within The Chilli Boys’ technical team.
Mammila has returned to the Gqeberha-based outfit as the second assistant coach, with Mabhuti Khenyeza serving as the first assistant to September.
This comes after Mammila resigned as the Baroka FC head coach in September last year following his poor start at Bakgaga in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, which led to his subsequent fallout with the club management.
Mammila returns to The Chilli Boys for his third stint, having cut ties with the club in January 2024 before he could rejoin Baroka.
WHAT THABO SEPTEMBER SAID ABOUT MORGAN MAMMILA’S RETURN TO CHIPPA UNITED
Chippa coach September was speaking after their 4-1 win over struggling Magesi FC in a Betway Premiership tie at Seshego Stadium outside Polokwane.
Coach September mentioned that Mammila is an individual they think can assist the team in reaching its objectives due to his exceptional group management abilities.
“Well, we were actually coming to fetch him [Morgan Mammila] here in Polokwane because he is from this area,” said September. “So, the plan was arranged beforehand. He couldn’t sit on the bench against Polokwane City FC, but we always communicated about how he could help us.
“We are happy that he came back to give us his advice. He is going to play a big role, especially on the technical side and, of course, off the field.
“He is a good group manager. I think he can help us in terms of managing the team to achieve good fluidity. It is good to have him back.”
Chippa are currently placed 11th on the log standings with 18 points after 14 outings. The club’s next match will be against TS Galaxy away from home on Saturday, 8 February. The showdown will take place at Mbombela Stadium, with the kick-off set for 20:00.
