‘The A team is back’- Leopards coach on Joel Masutha’s return
Former Baroka FC head coach Joel Masutha has officially returned to Motsepe Foundation Championship side Black Leopards. FARPost reported on Wednesday that Masutha tendered his resignation at the Lebowakgomo club.
His resignation at Baroka was a huge surprise, considering his track record in the three months he was in charge. The 52-year-old was in charge of nine matches, winning five, with three draws and one defeat.
Masutha was at the Leopards training grounds in Polokwane on Thursday morning alongside head coach Zeca Marques and assistant coach Abel Makhubela.
He is set to serve as an assistant coach to Marques. The two are not strangers as they also worked together before at the same club. Marques recently returned to Leopards on a short-term deal until the end of the season.

Both Marques and Masutha were at the helm when the club came closer to promotion via the PSL promotion playoffs in 2015.

Speaking to FARPost, Marques says the return of Masutha reminds him of the good days when they worked well at the club.
“This morning, when I started talking to the players, I said the A team is back,” said Marques.
“We are the A team. Myself and Joel did exceptionally well when we worked together. As I said, we had a great time and took the club to the playoffs. Abel [Makhubela] joins us with all the knowledge and experience of the game.
“So that adds value to us. We need different angles of thinking, and it just helps. In these situations, sometimes different thinking and different mentality add value to what we want to achieve,” added the ex-Moroka Swallows coach.
