Sundowns’ Sipho Mbule awaits clarity on his future
Sipho Mbule awaits clarity regarding his future with the reigning SA champions, Mamelodi Sundowns. His contract expires in June 2025, and while Masandawana have the option to extend it, uncertainty looms.
Mbule is currently on a season-long loan at Sekhukhune United, where he has made notable contributions on the pitch.
Sundowns sent him on loan at the start of the season after it became clear that his playing time would be restricted.
Mbule had scored three goals with one assist in 51 games for Masandawana since joining the club from SuperSport United in July 2022. Out of the 51 outings for The Brazilians, he started 22, while the rest were substitute appearances.
He made five starts in the CAF Champions League, one in the MTN8, two in the Nedbank Cup and 15 in the league. At Babina Noko, he has made 10 starts in all competitions, netting two goals. In addition, he has provided one assist.
The 26-year-old has played eight league matches and participated in the Nedbank Cup and the Carling Knockout.
His loan agreement with Sekhukhune does not have a purchase option, and it is still unclear whether the club would be keen to retain him beyond the season.
SIPHO MBULE EAGER TO REVIVE HIS CAREER
After a stellar performance in the recent 2-1 loss to Orlando Pirates, Mbule will be hoping to end the season on a high. Sekhukhune have played 15 games in the league and are currently fourth.
The remaining 15 league fixtures and the Nedbank Cup offer him a chance to conclude the season on a positive note.
Babina Noko’s veteran midfielders, Linda Mntambo and Thabang Monare, recently singled him out as the best player in the team. In the duo’s appearance on the iDiski Dine Podcast, Monare and Mntambo praised Mbule, noting that he makes football look effortless every time he steps onto the pitch.
On the other hand, Daniel Cardoso has been quoted as saying the Bethlehem-born star has what it takes to play in Europe.
