Leopards thrash CT Spurs, Durban City soar in title race
Black Leopards thrashed Cape Town Spurs 3-0 in the Motsepe Foundation Championship, while Durban City FC opened a gap in the title race.
Lidoda Duvha had a flying start to the match after scoring three goals in the first half against CT Spurs at Thohoyandou Stadium on Saturday. The Limpopo-based side found the back of the net courtesy of Thendo Mukumela, Bethuel Muzeu, and Augusto Farai.
After the win over The Urban Warriors, Leopards are sitting seventh on the log standings with 26 points after 18 games. In the current campaign, Leopards have won seven games, drew five and lost six times.
In contrast, CT Spurs are fighting relegation as they are occupying the 15th spot on the league table with 15 points after 18 games.
The Cape Town-based outfit has had a dismal start to life in the NFD after being relegated from the Betway Premiership last season.
Spurs have only managed to register three wins in the league, drew six and suffered defeats on nine occasions. The remaining 12 matches in the second-tier will be crucial for Spurs to avoid relegation to the ABC Motsepe League.
In another match on Saturday, Orbit College gave their title aspiration a big boost after defeating Milford FC 2-1. Orbit are sitting second on the league table with 32 points and they are five points way from log-leaders Durban City.
KRUGER UNITED AND CASRIC STARS SHARE SPOILS IN 1-1 DRAW
Elsewhere, Kruger United and Casric Stars played to a 1-1 draw at KaNyamazane Stadium on Saturday afternoon. The clash saw two former Mamelodi Sundowns stars, Kermit Erasmus and George Maluleka, face each other.
Kermit Erasmus provided an assist for his new club, Casric, while Maluleka was on target for Kruger United.
