ABC Motsepe League hit by officiating crisis: Another club pulls out

Drama seems to be following the SAFA Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe League week in and week out, as another club has withdrawn from the league due to poor officiating.

Tiger Boys, coached by well-travelled mentor Tshepo Motsoeneng, have succumbed to a decision to pull out of the provincial Motsepe League with immediate effect, citing consistent poor refereeing as the main reason.

The club sent a letter to SAFA Mpumalanga PEO Jabu Hlongwane informing him that they are withdrawing immediately from the Mpumalanga ABC Motsepe league due to inadequate officiating.

In the letter, they mentioned that they are losing games because they are unwilling to engage in match-fixing demands from the officials.

Tiger Boys are the second team in Mpumalanga to withdraw from the amateur league this season. In November 2024, Appollo XI pulled out from the league, stating the very same reason, just seven games into the new campaign.

Just two days ago, this publication reported that SAFA Mpumalanga took a decisive decision to expel Mpumalanga Football Academy from the league.

This was after Mpumalanga Football Academy failed to honour their three official league matches this season.

These issues have put the integrity and the reputation of the league in the mud, as they have the responsibility to please all stakeholders and sponsors of the league.

TIGER BOYS’ POSITION IN THE MPUMALANGA ABC MOTSEPE LEAGUE TABLE

Tigers Boys leaves the Mpumalanga amateur league in position 11 on the log standings with 21 points after 16 matches. In those 16 outings, the side managed to win six, draw three, and lose 12.

As things stand, the league will remain with 15 teams that will continue to fight for the SA football third-tier national playoffs qualification in their quest to gain promotion to the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

Currently, the club appears to be maintaining its stance on the decision to call it quits in the Mpumalanga amateur league.
